Convenience and Grocery Stores in Cartagena, Colombia
Cartagena has tons of mom-and-pop convenience stores off any sidewalk as well as in commercial plazas. Additionally Bocagrande has a large grocery store, Carulla.
AREA: Getsemani
Centro Comercial Y Empresarial
Centro Comercial Y Empresarial is a vast, yellow-colored plaza and is super convenient if you’re staying in Getsemani. It extends way back and is organized into Bloques (blocks). Each block (e.g., Bloque B) is lined with all types of food, souvenir and trinket shops, convenience stores, barbershops, and an internet cafe. You have to get your bearings to make your way around this commercial plaza.
Something that stood out is that smaller shops sold bags (yup, bags. Not bottles) of water and a small bag of water cost 500 COP. By the way, Old City or Old Town stores charge 2000 COP, not surprisingly, but sell water in bottles.
Location: on Calle Larga (Calle 25) near the north towards Calle 24
Bathroom: there’s a public restroom but it’s not wheelchair accessible and it’s also in pretty horrible, grimy condition. They don’t have toilet paper! You have to get it from a store. Makes sense! People gotta make money.
Accessibility: Centro Comercial Y Empresarial plaza is wheelchair accessible. Some of the stores are tight but you can do most of your transactions in front of the shops or at their windows.
Pasaje Leclerc
This jack-of-all-trades store on the west side of Calle Larga sells gifts and souvenirs, drinks, etc. It’s a bit on the pricy side compared to the shops across the street in Centro Comercial Y Empresarial. Water and soft drinks cost 2000 COP but they come in bottles!
Location: Calle Larga (Calle 25) across from Centro Comercial Y Empresarial.
Accessibility: Pasaje Leclerc has a step to go down but you can do your transactions in front of the store.
Carulla Express
Carulla is Cartagena’s chain of grocery stores. The company has both supermarkets and express stores. There’s an express store in Old City’s Centro area.
AREA: Bocagrande

Carulla Bocagrande is a large grocery store with everything you need. Thinking toothpaste, handwipes, etc.
