Overview: Beijing’s Capital International Airport is 25.35km from the Tiananmen Square, the center of Beijing. The Capital International Airport – terminal 3, rather – has great things going for it: style and architecture and a helpful staff.
When you arrive at the airport, you will notice that the roofs of the airport terminal slopes upwards and have what appear to be scales. These scales are skylights that are triangular shaped and point upwards. Together, the sloping roofs and skylights of terminal 3 make the airport look like a “dragon.” Inside, the the skylights illuminate the vaulted and arching ceiling of Capital International Airport. High arching metal beams, lights, cleanliness and the expansiveness of the airport makes you marvel at the stylistic feats of the airport and impresses upon you a sense Beijing’s modernity.
Handicap Airport Services: Beijing’s Capital International Airport does have handicap services. You should arrange with your airlines or ticket counter ahead of time.
Staff: The staff at the Beijing Capital Airport is helpful. There is a bit of communication issues for anything more complicated than retrieving your bags (i.e. lost luggage).
Money, Cash Machines ATMs: There are several ATM’s at the departure terminals just before the exits.
Bathrooms: Handicap bathrooms have handrails.
Airport to City Center: A taxi will cost around 50 Yuan. A handicap equipped taxi costs about 80 Yuan.
