Santa Monica Hotels
Santa Monica city itself covers a lot of ground. Of course when you think of staying in Santa Monica, you think of staying close the beach since Santa Monica is a resort city. Centinela Avenue to the east is the marker into West Los Angeles and it’s about 35 east from the coastline in Santa Monica. This is of course where you’ll fine cheaper places to stay (take the Big Blue Bus to Santa Monica Third Street or so). However, the hotels below are beachfront properties so they’ll cost a pretty penny. But hey, they’re on the beach. They are within a block of each other, with Casa Del Mar and Shutters on the Beach being neighbors (and sister hotels).
BAYSIDE HOTEL
This is actually one block north of the beach but check out the photo from the hotel itself. Pretty dang close to the beach and much cheaper (half the cost) than Casa Del Mar and Shutters on the Beach.
Location: 2001 Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90405

Ph: (310) 396-6000
Rate: starts at $260/night
Parking: There is a $20 parking fee for an assigned spot.
Accessibility: The hotel has a ramp and no steps to enter the hotel rooms. However, they only have bathrooms with bathtubs and walk-in showers, which have a step. The bathtubs, however, are very low.
HOTEL CASA DEL MAR
The hotel is nice on the outside and has a classical, dark and sophisticated atmosphere inside. Bar and lounge areas are a bit gloomy and stuffy but the renovated restaurant has a lighter look and atmosphere. The hotel also has a very nice gated patio area overlooking the sand and water.

SHUTTERS ON THE BEACH
This is one beautiful, swanky hotel. It has six levels and is right on the Santa Monica boardwalk. Besides its beachfront location and beachy-fronty architecture, Shutters is famed for its Sunday brunches, which many local angelenos actually go to have a nice afternoon.
The downside is the price tag, of course. It starts at over $500/night.
