Westside Pavilion
Overview: The Westside Pavilion Shopping Center is by far the easiest of all indoor malls to navigate in Los Angeles. The Westside Pavilion is located in West Los Angeles off Pico Blvd. Westwood Blvd runs into it.
The layout of the Westside Pavilion makes for an easy jaunt through the mall; it’s one long block. There are no curves or turns in the mall and no ways to get lost. The major department stores in the mall are Macys and Nordstroms on either end of the mall. The mall has a pretty good sized food court that offers a fairly wide range of ethnic types of foods such as Panda Express, Sbarro (Italian), Hana Grill, Charlie Kabob, La Salsa and more. Nordstroms itself even has a restaurant.
The mall contains the usual suspects as far as retail stores are concerned. There’s the inexpensive yet stylish H & M, the young pretty hipster Hollister, Gap and Gap Kids, Banana Republic and much, much more. The Westside Pavilion, however, doesn’t offer your higher end stores such as Louis Vuitton, Hermes. It has more of the common person’s stores. It also caters to the local colleges nearby such as UCLA and Santa Monica College.
A few things do stand out about the mall: the first is that The Landmark flagship theatre is adjoined to the mall via a bridge over Westwood Blvd. The Landmark is a fantastic movie theatre complete with a bar/lounge and even a lounge screening room. The other aspect of the mall is that surrounding it on the streets are some boutique retail shops and great restaurants. The last thing about the Westside Pavilion is that the elevators are placed on either end of the mall (east and west) as well as from the parking garage in The Landmark. During the holiday season and even when the mall is a little crowded, the elevators do take awhile shuffling people up and down the mall.
The Westside Pavilion Shopping Center is sort of an underrated mall among the locals. Those who shop there are locals or people who love The Landmark. Because it’s not the most popular mall, parking is free.
