Mann Village Theatre (Formerly Fox Theatre)
Overview: Opened in 1931, the Mann Village Theatre, formerly the Fox Theatre, packs the crowd in its historic, two-level theatre. The Spanish, mission-style Mann Village Theatre is located in Westwood, or Westwood Village, one of the most popular areas to “hang out” in Los Angeles. You may not know it but you most likely have seen the theatre on TV.
Though Westwood Village has several theatres, it’s easy to spot the Mann’s Village Theatre with its prominent white tower. Capping its tower is the historic Fox marquee. Inside the theatre’s lobby are arches across the ceiling and paintings along the walls. The theatre itself has a voluminous high ceiling, a grand stage and curtains and a fairly large handicap seating area. Sitting in the theatre, you get a feeling of the theatre’s long history.
Movie Premieres – As mentioned above, you’re probably familiar with the scene of the Mann Village Theatre but may not have known the name. Churning out movie after movie – some big blockbusters, some with more modest budgets – Hollywood, one of the greatest marketing machines in the world, presents to the world one of its movies every weekend. Often, the first run presentation takes place at the legendary Mann’s Village Theatre because of its reputation and its upgraded sound and projection (35mm and 70mm). Mann’s Village Theatre is one of the favorite places to host movie premieres with red carpets, flashing searchlights, velvet rope barriers, limousines, screaming fans and the press. You always know when a movie premiere is happening when large semi-trucks roll up. The staff stars to rope off the area in front of the theatre and the red carpet follows. The excitement of a movie premiere pumps up the adrenaline, especially when stars like Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Megan Fox strut their stuff amidst all the frenzy.

Next to the theatre is a Starbucks where you can sit in the patio area and have a pretty decent seat. You just have to wait in that seat for awhile so the next person doesn’t take it. You can also hop across to Diddy Reese Cookies and grab an ice cream or one of their famous cookies.
