Overview: Since 1938, Laemmle Theatres, a family owned and operated chain of art-house theatres, has held a highly regarded reputation amongst serious film afficionados. Terms like niche, independent films, off the beaten path and specialty films are synonymous with the Laemmle. Fortunately, movie buffs have a pretty good choice as far as the range of independent and foreign films go as well as choosing one of ten Laemmle locations.
Three Laemmle Theatre locations in Los Angeles keep the movie buffs returning. They are the Laemmle Monica 4-Plex in Santa Monica, the Royal Theatre in West Los Angeles and the Laemmle Sunset 5 on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. The theatres are fairly old, seats are comfortable enough and the screens are not state of the art. But, the theatres do not have to be the latest and greatest and nor the sound. The films that play don’t require the highest in technology. The theatres have their reputation and charm. They are a quiet movie getaway, per se.
The Laemmle Theatres can wisk you away from the crowds.
