Disney’s El Capitan Theatre
Overview: Excitement, lavish Hollywood and rollicking family fun are rolled into one at Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. Originally a theatre house for live performances, the El Capitan today hosts strictly Disney movies, and of course, the theatre warms your cinema experience up with pre-show activities.
The El Capitan Theatre has a lot of history behind it. It was opened in 1926 and one of the leaders in Hollywood’s revitalization in the early 2000s. The El Capitan Theatre has a distinct Spanish architectural facade and a colorful east Indian interior motif. Inside Disney’s El Capitan Theatre, you will be impressed with statues of some of your favorite characters on display and the high vaulted ceiling and balcony seats surrounding a colorful stage of what was once a platform for live theatre. The stage is often decorated with various themes as well.
A little east of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and next to the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show, the El Capitan offers exceptional family fun value for the buck. Your movie ticket buys you lush cushioned seats and a live show before the show. Performers parade around the theatre and dance and sing on a huge stage in the front as a way to warm up the crowd and introduce movies. The El Capitan Theatre is as good as it gets in Hollywood for family fun.
