The Laugh Factory
Overview: One of three locations (Long Beach and New York City), The Laugh Factory is a premier comedy club in Los Angeles, rivaling only The Improv on Melrose Ave as L.A.’s go-to comedy club. The Laugh Factory in Hollywood is located on Sunset Blvd and about a block east of Crescent Heights Blvd.
The Laugh Factory is one of L.A.’s most famous and oldest (dating back to 1979) comedy clubs. There is no doubt about that. Many of the biggest names in comedy, television and movies got their start here, including Jim Carrey, Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy and Jay Leno. It’s been so famous that a television show was taped here, Comic Strip Live in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Its fame, however, turned into infamous when Michael Richards took the stage in 2006 and an audience member recorded a racial outburst on a cell phone.
In the hip space with a fully loaded bar and DJ, The Laugh Factory brings in some of the best talents and the comedic talents are showcased in a regularly scheduled series, All-Star Comedy on the weekends. More current performers you probably know who have made an appearance: Aries Spears from Mad TV and now big movie star, Dane Cook.
