Transportation in Prague
CABS, TAXIS
Czech cabs are notorious rip-offs. AAA Radio Taxi is the largest and a professional dispatched taxi service company. It has fair prices and will not take roundabout ways to get to a destination.
Site: www.aaa.radiotaxi.cz
Ph: 233-113-311.
Cost: this company uses meters and the meters start at 30 CZK and increase by 1 CZK per every 30 seconds (it seemed) and every half a block.
Airport to Hotel: between 500 – 600 CZK
The price depends on your destination as well as time of day which affects traffic. The price during peak night time traffic hours from the hotel to the middle of Prague 2 area was around 621 CZK. Prague 3 is northeast of Prague 2 and would probably cost more.
A trip back to the airport costs around the same price. In the morning around 7:30am, the cab fare was just a little of 500 CZK.
AAA Cab Airport Location
When you exit the Prague airport terminal, the AAA sign is across the street, separating themselves from other taxis and the car service folks who vy for your business. The sign is somewhat small but there are two or three AAA employee dispatchers under the AAA sign to call for cabs.
Getting Around the City: Have your hotel staff make a call to AAA Radio Taxi and arrange a pickup.
BUSES AND TRAMS
There are two types of buses and trams (synonymous) in Prague: old ones that look like old pale yellow and red tram buses. These have a couple of steps to enter.
New Porche trams or buses that have silver, arrow dynamic noses. These are handicap accessible with lifts and hydraulics. The buses bordered with silver with red bodies. As of yet, no information to be gathered on paper. But, there is a website. More newer buses are being built but it´s hard to find out their routes. The trams and routes have handicap signs.
