National Museum (Národní Muzeum)
Overview: Off of Wilsonova, just across the street from Wenceslas Square, the National Museum juts into the skyline, especially when viewing it from Wenceslas Square, which has a slope down. The neo-renaissance National Museum stands tall, grand and elegant and hosts scientific and historical collections (interestingly, The Náprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures) as well as The National Museum Library.
Something magical about the museum is the view from its terrace at the entrance of the museum. From there, you overlook directly, the long stretch of tall, gothic and baroque buildings and shops that guard a street teeming with people milling about. A statue of King Wenceslas starts this procession of buildings and people. The view from the National Museum overlooks, Wenceslas Square.

Accessibility: There’s a long ramp on the west side – right side if you are facing the museum from the front – of the museum that reaches the entrance. This is quite a climb. When up at this level, you can view Wenceslas Square and the statue of King Wenceslas. Gorgeous. Entrance in the front of the main museum is inaccessible as there are stairs to mount. There is a handicap entrance on the east – left – side of Prague’s National Museum with an elevator.
Getting There: Walk or wheel or take the Metro line to the Muzeum stop
