Nightlife in Chiang Mai
Notes: Chiang Mai is packed full with bars, pubs and clubs. Where are they? Chiang Mai bars and clubs are all over the city but the popular area is on the eastern side of the Old City, Kotchasarn Road (on either side of the moat) and Loi Kroh Road. In addition, you can find them within the Old City walls on the northern end of the Old City. As well, around the night bazaar. There are also a strip of bars off Loi Kroh en route to the Night Bazaar. But be warned, there are a lot of girlie bars mixed in with regular bars, so be sure you know where you’re going! The general atmosphere of the bars are, of course, very relaxed, open-air and they come with stuff do to like pool tables.
NUMBER 1 BAR
This bar and its sister bar across the small Soi or alley have pool tables and open air seats. These seem to be the most popular bars, as I saw a ton of tourists and expats there. They and the surrounding bars on this street are mainly comprised of expats.
Cost: Drinks are about 30 – 100 Baht
