Eats in Gran Via Area
CANAS Y TAPAS CAFE
This little casual cafe was my first food stop mainly because it’s just a building away from my first hotel, Plaza de Espana Apartel, on Gran Via. It was also a traditional looking place with lots of people going in and out. It’s definitely a happening little place but it unfortunately has a step up to the restaurant.
It is a great breakfast place for churros and toast, even though it not completely wheelchair accessible. The churros here are better and cheaper than the ones in Puerta del Sol and Jacinto Benavente Plaza. Their breaded croquetas are also very tasty. It’s very, very reasonable in cost.
Location: Gran Via and Plaza de Espana
Cost: Toast and coffee is 1,9 eur. Lunch will cost around 5 eur.
Accessibility: There is a sloping step up at the entrance. The left side of the step is much easier to climb.
PANS & COMPANY
Okay, so I needed some western type of sandwich food which was affordable. Pans & Company is a chain and the one pictured above is located on Gran Via near Hotel Senator Espana. This is a delicious and affordable chain and the restaurant is one of the tastiest and healthiest fastfood restaurants out there. There is also a little outdoor patio with seats so you can watch people watch while eating.
Location: All over but there’s one on Gran Via and another in Puerta del Sol.
Cost: Great sandwich, fries and soda combinations for 6 – 7 eur.
Accessibility: Easily accessible. No steps to get into the above-mentioned locations.
NEBRASKA RESTAURANTE
This restaurant is a chain like Zahara Cafe and serves western type of foods such as fries and steads, omelettes.
ZAHARA RESTAURANTE
Another chain restaurant all over Madrid (Gran Via and side streets in the Puerta del Sol and Jacinto Benavente Plaza). It’s known for cafe con leche and cafe type food. It does have some mean churros.
