Madrid’s Magnificant Architecture
The first thing that will strike you when you arrive in Madrid’s city center are Madrid’s towering and vibrant buildings. Madrid’s architecture in the city center are tourist attractions of their own. Reflecting foreign influences and styles over the centuries, Madrid’s highly detailed, stylized and colorful (red and orange) buildings tower around the city and you get the feeling of being enclosed in the rich culture of Madrid. Madrid’s buildings aren’t modern skyscrapers; rather, they’re the product of the grandiosity of the past rulers and foreign influences. Outside the obvious such as Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and Madrid’s train stations, some notable buildings are Banco del Credito on Gran Via, The Metropolis building (1905) on Calle Alcala and Gran Via, San Jeronimo Church and the Kio Towers in Plaza Castilla (north of Cuzco, take the Charmatin metro line).
