Money Matters in Frankfurt
Frankfurt has a 19% sales tax as of late 2007! For Bank of America customers, BOFA is a member of a global ATM network, which Deutsche Bank is a part of. You can withdraw cash from a Deutsche Bank money machine without getting charged an international finance fee. However, you will be charged for the ATM fee.
There are Deutsche Bank money machines in the Frankfurt airport, on AM Hauptbahnhof and many other places.

It’s best to withdraw money at ATMs. Frankfurt is the financial capital of Germany, so there is no problem finding cash machines. Money machines in German are called Geldautomatic. There are Western Unions and Reise Banks right across the street from the National Hotel Frankfurt as you head towards the Hauptbanhof Main Train Station.

TIPPING
Germans don’t tip. That’s a common perception. I did not see many people tipping. Then again, I saw some. Americans in America say not to tip in Germany. Germans in Germany say not to tip. Americans in Germany say, tip 10%. Go figure. Do what the Frankfurters do and don’t tip.
