Shanghai Wheeling Tour
Overview: There are a few notable Walking Tours in Shanghai that will take you past significant landmarks and various parts of Shanghai such as Nanshi, Shanghai’s Old Town (just south of Huangpu District and adjacent to the Huangpu River). I’ve decided to create my own walking/wheeling tour here. Not really a tour but rather, a way to reach the Bund from Central Jin Ling Lu. Nevertheless, you will encounter the daily lives of the Shanghainese folks, some landmarks such as the Bund Center, famous retail stores such as Hugo Boss and clubs of distinction such as Number Five housed in colonial, and of course, all the art deco buildings in Guangdong Lu near the start of the southside of the Bund. As always, I prefer to go along the streets to get a better sense of a destination’s culture than driving by the culture.
Cost: Free
Accessibility: You can get a sense of East Jin Ling as well as East Yan’an and streets around the Bund Center and finally East Nanjing Lu. A few sidewalks and curbs are old and not too accessible on one side of the street. You sometimes have to cross streets to reach wider, more wheelchair accessible streets in the southeast part of Huangpu District.
