Shanghai Chinese Acrobatic Show
Overview: The Chinese Acrobatic Show at the Shanghai Center Theatre is a real treat. If you see anything in Shanghai, you must experience one of these shows. Words can’t describe how gifted the performers in the acrobatic show are. They’re talented in both physically agility as well as in their performances – the ability to engage the audience and sweep the audience off their feet.
Witness the love story of a woman and man in one of the segments of the show. Two ribbons hang from the rafters. The beautiful woman and man see each other and they take off on a sweeping acrobatic voyage using the ribbons wrapped around their arms or their ankles. They lift each other and soar effortlessly above the stage and the audience. In the air, they perform all sorts of strength and graceful movements that will make your head dizzy and giddy.
Awe and bewilderment set in when you witness how these performers can contort their bodies, keep an eye on multiple flying objects that easily reach a hundred feet in the air and their strength and balance. These acrobats stack chairs upon chairs until the ceiling of the theatre prevents them from climbing further. Then they climb on each other, balancing on each others’ feet with their hands and finally disassemble gracefully. Guys start from either end of the stage and run towards each other only to flip and somersault through pairs of hoops. You get the point. You have to check it out.
