Bund Sightseeing Tunnel
Overview: The Bund Tunnel connects the west side of the Bund to Pudong. This is one way to get across the river. To make the price of admission worthwhile, a tram will glide you through a light show and some psychedelic images in the Bund tunnel. The light show is accompanied by some odd, echoing narration such as “Space!” The tunnel, or, the light show, has various sections and each has its own theme such as space and heaven. After a few minutes, you will end up at the Fish Museum and Chinese Sex Culture Exhibition in no time. The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel might be considered hokey, but it’s so cheesy, you have to try it once.
FISH MUSEUM
If you’re going to purchase a roundtrip ticket for the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel, you might as well purchase the whole enchilada. Purchase an all-inclusive ticket to check out the Fish Museum and the China Sex Culture Museum. One of the notable fishes is a red bubble-headed fish. Check out the pictures and videos. This is definitely a nice, family-oriented thing to do in Shanghai.
CHINA SEX CULTURE MUSEUM
Here are all kinds of “art” pieces depicting sex, various forms of humans and animals in erotic positions and a crazy, phallic donkey saddle. Some of the pieces might be plain shocking and others are a little more subtle and appear to be art. The museum serves more as a function of education than anything else. It’s not supposed to be shocking or distasteful but enlightening.
Cost: 30 Yuan one way, 40 roundtrip. Combined ticket for the return trip, fish and china sex culture museums is 65 Yuan.
Accessibility: The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel does have elevators. But, the staff is slow to move and insists on you using the elevators as opposed to the escalators. There are elevators that will take you down to the tram cars, then, up to the Fish and Chinese Sex Culture exhibitions. As well, up to the ground floor on the Pudong side about a block away from the Oriental Pearl TV Tower.
