Notes: A benefit of Chiang Mai is that lodging is inexpensive by western standards. For a week in Chiang Mai, I would suggest staying at the Raming Lodge. For longer stays, you should look into guest houses. Guest houses in Chiang Mai are as abundant as convenience stores and laundry mats; there is a guest house every half a block. You can either book the larger Chiang Mai guest houses online, reserve guest houses at the tourist information center at the Chiang Mai International Airport, or as most everyone does, just drop into a guest house in person.

RUX-THAI GUEST HOUSE
Centrally located, this guest house is off of Loi Kroh Soi 1. I checked out this guest house in person and the entrance has no step and the rooms are large and simple. There are rooms on the ground level. This is the only guest house that I checked out that seems reasonably wheelchair accessible.

BANN ORAPIN
This recessed and exotic guest house is on the east side of the Ping River on Charoenraj Road. You must cross a bridge over the Ping River to reach this guest house. It’s recessed back with paths and steps. Not wheelchair accessible. But, cute and rated number 1 bed and breakfast on Trip Advisor and highly rated on Travelfish.

TIANA GUEST HOUSE
This little guest house is located off Kotchasarn Road just a couple of blocks north of Loi Kroh Road.

TOP NORTH HOTEL & GUEST HOUSE
This hotel and guest house is located centrally off Moon Muang Road just inside the eastern part of the Old City Wall. Pictures of this hotel and guest house show steps at the entrance but a Trip Advisor review claims the guest house and hotel is handicap accessible.
