Chiang Mai Night Bazaar
Overview: Towards evening time, locals in Chiang Mai set up stalls and stands, preparing for the evening’s nightly night bazaar. On the corner of Loi Kroh Road and Chang Khlan Road (a couple of blocks just shy or the Ping River), the customary Thai food stalls, arts and crafts, jewelry and clothing stalls start to clamor as tourists and locals saunter through. Here, you can find the bargains of a lifetime and enjoy some authentic, downright delicious Thai food. At the southeast corner of Loi Kroh Road and Chang Khlan Road is the designated Chiang Mai Night Bazaar Pavalion (right next to McDonald’s) which houses a couple of floors of antiques, jewelry and other items that are all a part of the nightly bazaar.
Location: Corner of Loi Kroh Road and Chang Khlan Road
Cost: Depends on you
Accessibility: Loi Kroh, just east of Chang Khlan Road is easy to wheel on. The vendors set up shop on the street itself. The sidewalks are a different story. The typical high, diagonal curbs are present and the sidewalks are a bit more of a tight squeeze than usual because of the vendors. The Night Bazaar Pavilion’s handicapped entrance is behind the pavilion on the east side. There is a driveway and a parking garage and security. Pass all of them and then turn right and you’ll find the front of the pavilion. There is a small step, however, to reach the grounds of the front of the pavilion. The pavilion itself has another small step.
Getting There: Walk, wheel, tuk-tuk
