Colon Street
Overview: The oldest street not just in Cebu but in the Philippines, Colon Street, or Calle Colon, was built by the Spanish under the rule of Miguel Lopez de Legaspi. Jeepneys, moto-peds, pedestrians and anything that can move hustle and bustle about on Colon Street. It’s busy, bustling and dusty and not the most wheelchair accessible, yet it’s exciting and a great place to visit. It’s also a great place to get attention just by being there and wheeling around. 🙂
Along Colon Street are large department stores and retail shops and bargain shops. In addition to the commercial aspects, along and nearby are Cebu City’s universities and movie theaters.
Location: Colon Street is in the heart of Cebu City’s downtown area.

Accessibility: Colon Street is crowded. And, on a hot day, phew! The sidewalks have a few things make it challenging to stroll along. They are lined with sidewalk vendors or storefronts setting up shop on the sidewalks themselves. The sidewalks also have inconsistent ramps and heaveup concrete. Businesses often have steps as well. You really must be familiar with Colon Street in order to get around.
