Beaches and Scuba Diving
Overview: The island of Bohol is graced with pristine beaches and exquisite scuba diving sites on all sides of the island. Even though Bohol does have a rainy season during the summer, it isn’t affected by rain as much as Luzon because Bohol is sheltered by surrounding islands. That means beaches and scuba diving are good to go year round. Here’s a list of the best beaches and dive sites.
BEACHES
Panglao Island is an island southwest of the main island of Bohol. Panglao is the de facto island resort of Bohol and has the market on beaches and scuba diving sites.
Check out Alona Beach, which is the number one beach complete with white sand, clear and warm water, resorts and restaurants and bars. It’s located at the southeast tip of Panglao island.
Bikini Beach is north of Alona Beach on the eastern side of Panglao Island.
Doijo Beach is located at the northern end of Panglao Island.
On Bohol’s main island, Anda Beach is located at the most eastern part of Bohol and is reportedly one of the most beautiful beaches on Bohol due to its white sand – literally – and clear water.
SCUBA DIVING
Panglao Island has lots of dive sites including sites off the beaches of Doijo and Danao. There are some nearby islands such as Balicasag, mentioned below. Most have excellent coral reefs, marine wildlife, clear water with great visibility on the western side of the island.
Balicasag Island and Pamilacan Island are off of Alona Beach on Panglao Island about 10 kilometers. It’s characterized by coral reefs and marine life and you can descend 40 meters.
Cabilao Island is on the west coast of Bohol and north of Panglao. Here you will find some exotic marine wildlife such as hammerhead sharks. You can charter a boat from Bohol or Mactan Island, Cebu.
