Baclayon Church
Baclayon Church in Bohol
Overview: This is the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in Tagbilaran. It’s considered one of the oldest churches in the Philippines and the oldest coral stone church in the province. Though the first Spanish missionaries landed in Baclayon in 1595, Baclayon only became a parish in 1717 and the church was finally constructed in 1727.
The beautiful and well-preserved church has a bell tower and a museum, which exhibits religious artifacts, statues and paintings. It’s surprisingly voluminous inside with gorgeous chandeliers and a large altar.
Location: Baclayon, Tagbilaran, Bohol. It is a few miles of Tagbilaran port.
Cost: Free for the church, P25 for the museum
