Hepingmen Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant
Oh boy. This is a treat! Go here just to experience a little culture (there are plenty of less formal Peking duck around Tiananmen Square too). The Quandjude Roast Duck restaurant is the most famous Peking Duck restaurant in Beijing. You’ll be served an entire duck, which a cook will bring out and carve for you, with a platter of flat pancakes, soy sauce, sweet, thick sauce and onions. Spread some jam and soy sauce on the pancakes with the tender slices of duck and some onions on top. Fold up the pancake and you’re ready to eat! Be warned, however, if you order the duck soup, you may see duck feet floating around in the soup!
Also worth noting is that Da Dong Restaurant in the Chaoyang District next to Bellagio Restaurant (Lu Gang Xiaozhen) reportedly has killer Peking Duck meals.
Location: No.32, Qianmen Dajie, Beijing. It’s located in the Dongcheng District just minutes west of Tiananmen Square.
Cost: 220 Yuan for the entire duck and pancakes. Soups costs about 30 to 40 Yuan.
Accessibility: This restaurant branch has a ramp. The ramp is divided by a slim lane of steps however so you must place each wheel on the ramps on either side of the lane of steps. The ramp is a bit steep but some of the male staff is always waiting outside.
