Overview: The Beijing Books Building (known as Xinhua bookstore in Chinese) in Xi Dan on West Chang’an is one of the two largest bookstores in Beijing. It’s a little west of the Forbidden City. There are eight floors to the Beijing Books Building. You can find anything from reference books, to fiction, English language books to cds and dvds to a section with paintings. There are sections that sell Chinese knickknacks and huge globes! It’s got heavy security so don’t get crazy in there!

Cost: Free to enter
Accessibility: The bookstore is wheelchair accessible. There is no step at the entrance and there are a couple of lifts. The area surrounding the bookstore is accessible as well.
Getting There: If you’re staying in the city center, walk. If you take a cab from the city center, you will not exceed the 10 Yuan flagship cab rate.
