Overview: The Dewa Bharata Hotel in Kuta (there’s one in Ubud but that’s not accessible) is the most wheelchair accessible hotel I found in Kuta. I checked out a dozen. The entrance and the grounds are pleasing – make you feel like you’re at a nice hotel. Lots of plants, trees, a swimming and more. And, the location is great. It’s not too far from the White Rose Hotel. It’s located north of the White Rose off Jalan Legian on Jalan Nakula.
The exterior maybe nice but the rooms are very simple. If you just need a bed, a large but simple bathroom with a toilet and a roll-in shower (next to the toilet and not sectioned off) and a sink, the Dewa Bharata Hotel is your place. It’s definitely for the budget-minded, low maintenance or the young surfers and partiers (exhibit A, the simple bathroom. exhibit B, the simple white tile floors for easy cleaning). The bathroom, by the way, has a very large doorway and the bathroom itself is large. There’s a lot of empty space in there that could be used for say, a cabinet? Towel racks? Surfboards?
The lobby is the only thing about the hotel that’s not wheelchair accessible. I don’t know what it is about these Bali hotels, except for the high end ones of course. The staff will see you and come down. I’d say for the price (Rp300,000, which is about $30), the hotel is pretty decent. It’s definitely not for a honeymoon but for those on a budget.
