Sanur, Bali Restaurants
Sanur, Bali has much more relaxed and upscale restaurants, especially on Jalan Tamblingan. Every other establish is a sit-down restaurant/watering hole. So really, flip a coin and eat wherever. There are some restaurants that stand out as more caché than others, some more ethnic and a lot of expat, Western-oriented restaurants and bars. Popular establishments are Apa Kabar and Bamboo Bar on Jalan Tamblingan.
BISTRO 95
Liked this place. It’s very expat, Western oriented. The coffee was good and so was the pad thai (very good), if you can believe it. The wait staff is always ready to take your order, and they have great, attentive customer service. In the front, there’s an outdoor patio section with tables and inside, there are tables and small booths but with plenty of room to wheel (as long as it’s not crowded). There’s a bar to the right and a dance floor in the back. I did not see anyone dancing, as I just ate lunch and had coffee there a couple of times. They do have a computer with internet access for a nominal fee and wifi (I saw a couple on their laptops in there).
Location: Jalan Danau Tamblingan, Sanur, Bali 80228. Near Jalan Duyung (and Bali Hyatt Hotel) on the east side of the street. For reference, There’s Apa Kabar at Jalan Danau Tamblingan No. 195, Sanur, Bali.
Cost: Rp15,000 to Rp60,000
Accessibility: There is a step up to the enter the restaurant. Inside, there’s a decent amount of room to move and I believe the bathroom was actually wheelchair accessible.
COCO PALM RESTAURANT
The Coco Palm Restaurant is a nice, sit-down restaurant on Jalan Danau Tamblingan. They serve an international cuisine. Expect to pay about Rp250,000 for some of the seafood.
Location: Jalan Danau Tamblingan, Sanur, Bali 80228
Cost: drinks Rp15,000 to Rp,20,000. Food Rp20,000 – Rp300,000
Accessibility: There is a three to four inch step at the entrance.
ON ON CAFE & BILLIARDS
Serves international dishes. This cafe’s fried pork chops, fries and gravy were delicious. So much so, I had it twice. It’s a decent place to hang out if you want to relax and play some pool (billiards). It’s an expat cafe/bar and there are a handful of girls at the front ready to seat customers. The owner, who seemed like a nice guy, and his friends will barbeque chicken and beef sometimes and man, the place smells delicious. The On-On Cafe has a very relaxed atmosphere. I would not say it’s a family-friendly restaurant though since it’s mainly a bar at night. This is the only place I could find to play pool at night when I wanted a break from listening to the local performers sing.
Location: Jalan Danau Poso, Sanur, Bali 80228. About 100 yards from Jalan Danau Tamblingan
Cost: Rp10,000 – Rp50,000 (for food and drinks)
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible
ABA KABAR
Next to Bistro 95 on Jalan Tamblingan. Is both a watering hole and restaurant.
