Kuta, Bali Restaurants
DEWI SINTA
Notes: This restaurant is part of the Dewi Sinta Hotel and Spa. Loved the sate platter served in a large basket-like dish and comes soto ayam, a soup with vermicelli, veggies, eggs and wonderful flavor. On the basket plate was a banana cone of rice surrounded by satays, jumbo shrimp, grilled chicken, vegetables and prawn. The presentation made the meal “feel” like I was in paradise, which I was. The restaurant itself has a nice decor – open-air and spread out. It’s recessed from the Pasar Seni Market crowd.

MINI SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
Notes: I didn’t have any seafood here but I did try the beef satays and nasi goreng, fried rice. The beef satays came on a mini iron pit with coals and a rack for the skewers. They were literally cooking in front of my eyes. The beef satays were tasty but a little tough. The fried rice and fresh kelapa mudah, pineapple juice, were good and the service was excellent as well. The restaurant itself is large and I don’t recall there being a step. It’s connected to a bar next door where there are live performers. There’s a ramp that connects the restaurant to the bar. You can go back and forth.
Location: Jalan Legian, Kuta, Bali near Poppies Lane 2
Cost: 20 – 50Rp
Accessibility: The restaurant is wheelchair accessible.
CRUSOE’S ISLAND
A 24 Hour cafe, I would term this lounge a warung because of its tropical, bamboo open-air design and, it’s next to the road. As it is, it’s more like a lounge – small. It does, however, have a ramp into the restaurant and that’s why I tried it out. I had the typical mie goreng, which was pretty tasty.
Location: Jalan Legian No. 184
Cost: Soda Rp13, Noodles and Chicken dishes Rp25
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible. There is a ramp from the sidewalk into the restaurant
TANAH LOT EATS
Tanah Lot is not in Kuta: it’s about 25 minutes northwest of Kuta. There are several places to eat at the Tanah Lot. I recommend one of the cliffside restaurants directly overlooking Tanah Lot Temple during sunset. Get your camera ready because it’s a truly beautiful panoramic photo op of the temple and the sea. The specialty drinks at these restaurants such as Warung Segara at the Tanah Lot Sunset Terrace are freshly made kelapa mudahs, which are young coconut drinks. The prices are high for food though. There are other restaurants such as the Melasti Tanah Lot Seafood Restaurant.
Location: Jalan Raya Tanah Lot, Beradan Village, Kediri, Tabanan Regency, Bali 82113
Cost: $ to $$$
Accessibility: There’s a short climb up to the Tanah Lot Temple Sunset Terrace at the Warung Segara but the terrace and restaurant is wheelchair accessible but there is an incline to reach it.
URBAN FOOD STATION
This sleek and modern little restaurant is part of the ESC company which also owns Sky Garden Lounge on Jalan Legian in Kuta. They sell “urban” food such as gyros and salads. The food quality is okay. The beef in the gyro was fatty and the gyro was a bit bland, though it was sizable.
Location: Jalan Legian No. 61. First floor of the ESC complex.
Ph: 62 361 872-1414
Cost: Rp20,000 – Rp50,000
Accessibility: The Urban Food Station is wheelchair accessible. No extra step from the sidewalk
