Ice House Comedy Club
Overview: The Ice House Comedy Club venue has been around since 1960 but the comedy focus started in the 1970s with names like the Smothers Brothers and Lily Tomlin. The Ice House is located centrally in Pasadena’s downtown area on Mentor Ave off of E Colorado Blvd.
The Ice House comedy club has two rooms: the Annex and the showcase room. The Annex is a small room with tables and a small stage. The Ice House gives new, up and comer comics a chance to strut their stuff. Unfortunately, more comedians crash and burn there than rise. But, then again, the comedians are new to the stage and the admission price on Sunday nights is only $7.50.
The main room at the Ice House is a large room with sturdy, narrow tables to make room for all the rows of chairs. The stage of course is much more grand and professional. The Ice House brings in some big names like comedian Joe Rogan from News Radio and the host of Fear Factor as well as the sports commentator for the UFC. It also hosts comedy events that are taped.
The Ice House, like many major comedy clubs, offers improve and stand-up courses.
