The Landmark (West Los Angeles)
Overview: You will be very pleased with the The Landmark, connects to the Westside Pavilion Mall in West Los Angeles at Pico Blvd and Westwood Blvd. The Landmark was renovated in 2007 to become today’s sleek new flagship theatre of the Landmark.
The Landmark is giving the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood a run for its money. That’s the rumor and concensus in L.A. The fact is, all upscale movie theatres are competitors, even if some cinemas feature more niche movies than others. Both the Arclight and Landmark have assigned seating, which is nice and convenient. At the ticket counter, the staff will tilt their computer screen, if you are in a wheelchair, down for you to choose a location you’d like to be placed or seated at in a particular theatre. This shows great customer service and focus. Both theatres, like most good theatres in Los Angeles, have comfortable, reclining, stadium style seating, making the movie experience very pleasant. Like the Arclight, The Landmark does have theatres that are dedicated to more provocative and indie films. But, the Arclight Cinema and The Landmark in West Los Angeles are so far apart distance-wise that they shouldn’t even be compared.
The new Landmark theatre’s sleek exterior is matched by the insides decor and ameneties. The hallways leading to various screens have a dark ambiance, bordered with blue-ish, purple lights. kind of sets the mood actually. Seat near the back of the lobby is a nice restaurant and bar. And finally, The Landmark’s real distinction is its Lounge Theatre, which is a theatre with spaced out leather-bound couches and orange cushioned ottomans and couches in the front. Only a few, marquee-level movies play in this theatre.
The Landmark does have 3,000 free parking spaces but if you are seeing a movie during the popular hours, you will have to drive down the many levels of the underground parking structure.
