Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre
Overview: The Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre has a LOT of history behind it. It’s the theatre of the first Hollywood movie premiere (1922), Robin Hood, and the site of many more quintessential Hollywood premieres with red carpet, stars, fans and press. Today, the Egyptian Theatre features a staple film of the history of Hollywood, independent films, classics, documentaries and boasts many film festivals.
The Egyptian Theatre is of course fashioned after an Egyptian motif. Columns and palm trees ordain the front court and entrance of the Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre. The forecourt also consists of a few retail shops. Acquired by American Cinematheque, a non-profit cultural organization, in 1996, Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre enjoys a revival today, making it a red carpet movie premiere site and one of Hollywood’s marquee landmarks.
