Six Flags Magic Mountain
Overview: Click. Click. Click. VROOM!!! Drop…Warning: Six Flags Magic Moutain is not for wimpy people. Utterly thrilling amusement park rides call for the utterly obsessed theme park lovers. Magic Mountain, as locals refer to Six Flags in Los Angeles, brings the speed, height and wild rides. It’s the favorite among teens and anyone into adrenaline rushes and roller coasters.
Magic Moutain is located about 30 miles north of Los Angeles in Valencia. Not as large as Disneyland or Knott’s Berry Farm, Magic Mountain holds its own and then some. It has, as the concensus in Los Angeles goes, hands down the best roller coaster rides in southern California. Magic Mountain’s Colussus, the park’s classic and most well-known roller coaster, is rated as a “moderate” ride. Take the test yourself and see if doesn’t raise your anxiety as you slowly, slowly creep up the wooden roller coaster, finally pausing and then swoosh!! Colussus hits 62 mph. You still lose your stomach on Colussus. Next, step up to the Superman challenge. This is another classic ride with a surprisingly moderate rating. But you may think differently when the g-force of its 100 mph slingshot effect nails your back to your seat as it thrusts up its tower. Try the Ninja next. The Ninja is a roller coaster that hangs from its tracks while twisting, looping and spiraling at over 50 mph. You may feel a bit crunched and hunched after the ride is over. So, if these three rides, which I’ve personally been on, are considered moderate, can you imagine what the “max” rides are like?
Magic Mountain has Bugs Bunny. Knott’s has Snoopy. Disneyland has Mickey Mouse. Keeping up with Knott’s Scary Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain now has a scary Fright Fest section. It’s all good ole family fun! There are plenty of places to eat and shop at as well. Feast at some well-known familiar restaurants such as Johnny Rockets and others that are Six Flags Magic Mountain creations. There’s even a Cold Stone Creamery, the most decadent and delicious ice cream store.
