Century City
Area: West side area
Overview: The area in Los Angeles known as Century City is not large but it packs a powerful punch in its relatively tight vicinity. Century City’s borders are Santa Monica Blvd (maybe a block north) on the north side, Pico Blvd on the south side, Veteran Ave on the west and Century Park East on the east. The area is next door (east) to West Los Angeles and just south of Westwood and west of Beverly Hills.
So what’s cool about Century City? Welp, Century City has one of the best outdoor, pedestrian-only malls in town. The Westfield Century City Mall is nice, clean, upscale and has beautiful people working the stores! It has a plethora of retail choices, including a Mac store, as well as a bountiful and diverse food court. The Century City Mall also has one of the best theatres in town, the AMC 15 Century City.
The main action occurs between and around the cluster of buildings on Avenue of the Stars street. Appropriately named, this business and entertainment area loads up its streets with entertainment companies, leasing out space in the many corporate high rises to some major Hollywood players. Tom Cruise has his production office in the MGM building in Century City. The Fox Plaza draws stars and celebrities to the building. The primary thing that Century City boasts is that it is the home of Fox Studios. The Fox Studios Lot is adjacent to the Fox Plaza.
Some hot places in Century City – in the mall – are the glitzy pan-Asian fusion RockSugar restaurant and the trendy American Mexican Pink Taco. About a block south of the Century City Mall is the fashionable X Bar in the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. The Intercontinental Hotel housed s season 7’s American Idol contestants.
Speaking of celebrity star gazing, check out the Century City Mall (Westfield). Stroll around for an afternoon and you’ll be surprised at who you might see.
Accessibility: Century City is wheelchair accessible.
