Money Matters in Madrid
Exchange money at a bank, not money changer (cambio) in Madrid.
CURRENCY: Euro
TIPPING
The Spanish themselves say it, the Spanish don´t tip. They´re aghast to hear the 20% Americans tips. The reason is that the Spanish get compensated well enough not to get tips. If you´re at a nice, sit-down restaurant, you can pay 5%.
SANTANDER BANK
There are Santander Banks, Spain’s largest banks, everywhere. There’s a Santander right at the corner of Gran Via and Plaza de Espana.
DEUTSCHE BANK
Remember that Deutche Bank is affiliated with Bank of America in their global alliance circle. That means, there’s only a non-bank ATM fee from Bank of America if you use Deutsche Bank ATMs to withdraw money and not get charged an “international” fee.
