LAYOUT
There are three districts in the city center: The city center has winding and meandering Austrias (has a bunch of alleyways), Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol (just east and has a ton of bars, etc.), Gran Via, the main street, which boasts the most fabulous street-line view of buildings, and Ensanche area, which consists of Salamanca quarter (you can find the US Embassy here). Salamanca is also the ritzy area and boasts the high end retail shopping district.
