Shanghai Nightlife
Shanghai is definitely not lacking in bars, clubs and other sorts of nightlife and entertainment. Shanghai offers bars, expat bars, girlie bars, KTV Karaoke bars, dance clubs, etc. Here’s a list of some nightlife places in Shanghai:
TONGREN LU
The most infamous of Shanghai’s bar streets. Malone’s: rock and roll bar with tons of expats and pretty girls and a great live band. This is definitely a single guy’s place.
Location: just north of Nanjing Lu and Tongren Lu Cost: Drinks range but average price is 35 Yuan.
NANYANG LU
Blue Sky Bar, Big Bamboo sports bar, Manhattan Bar (this one’s a girlie bar)
Location: east/west street adjacent to Tongren Lu bars, which moved in 2010-11. Big Bamboo is at 132 Nanyang Lu. Manhattan is 154 Nanyang Lu.
LAOWAI STREET 101
Translated as Foreigner’s Street 101, this is a recent mega-development stretch of western-style restaurants and bars for foreigners and expats on Hong Mei Lu in the Changning District. Notably, there’s the Shanghai Brewery and Big Bamboo Bar.
Location: Changning District. Hong Mei Lu and Yan’an Lu West
LUWAN
Of course, what’s an expat, French Concession area of Shanghai with tons of bars such as Jenny’s Blue Bar and Stormy Cafe Bar. Julu Lu, Changhshu Lu and Huanshan Lu have some formidable bars and girlie bars.
Real Shanghai Cafe and Bar
Great place to have a drink and eat. Friendly and cute staff. Expat locals are friendly as well.
Location: Huanshan Lu across from Hilton Shanghai
Cost: 30 – 40 Yuan
DANCE CLUBS
Shanghai likes music and dancing. There are several big clubs and among the most popular is Babyface, which is on the south side of Jinling Lu and just west of Xizang Lu.
KTV
KTV’s in Shanghai are karaoke clubs. Men and women enjoy these and they are all around. Some large KTV’s are on Jinling and Xizang Lu and around Huaihai Lu.
PLAYING POOL
On Madang Rd, there is the Guo Yuan Snooker Club, which is right next to Tony Restaurant. Madang is neat Huahai Rd, a shopping area.
